Terms
These cover this website and the Tentmate service. By subscribing you agree to them. If you are subscribing for a company, you are confirming you may agree to them on its behalf.
Who you are dealing with
This site and the service are operated by Tentmate , established in Spain. Contact: [email protected].
What the service is
Tentmate is a bot that works inside your Basecamp account. When someone mentions it, assigns it a to-do or a card, or messages it, it reads what it has been given access to and answers in Basecamp like anyone else on the team.
Its answers are generated by AI models and can be wrong. Treat them the way you would treat work from a capable but unsupervised assistant: useful, and yours to check. You stay responsible for what you do with what it produces, and for anything it writes into your Basecamp account on your instruction. Do not rely on it for legal, medical, financial or safety-critical decisions.
Your account
You need a Basecamp account, and you need to be entitled to connect it. One Tentmate subscription covers one Basecamp account and everyone in it. You decide which projects the bot can reach; it sees what you give it access to and nothing else.
Keep your own sign-in secure. Anyone who can administer your Basecamp account can change what the bot can see, and the account owner is the only person who can change the plan or the card.
Plans, credits and what runs out
Plans are monthly and priced per Basecamp account. Work is metered in credits: each plan includes an allowance for the billing period, and the bot spends from it as it works.
- Unused credits do not carry over. The allowance resets at the start of each billing period; whatever is left at the end of one is not added to the next.
- Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged for money, and are not refundable once spent.
- When the allowance runs out, the bot stops taking new work until the next period begins or you move to a larger plan. Anything already running finishes. It replies once in Basecamp to say so and emails the account owner, rather than going quiet.
- New accounts get a one-off allowance of free credits to try the service. It is one per Basecamp account, has no cash value, is replaced by your plan's allowance when you subscribe, and we may change or withdraw it for future signups.
We may change how much a given piece of work costs in credits as the underlying model prices change. If a change makes your plan materially worse value, we will tell you before it takes effect and you can cancel.
Prices, tax and payment
Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax. Your purchase is processed by Stripe as merchant of record: any VAT, IVA or other sales tax due is calculated by Stripe from your billing details, added at checkout, and shown to you before you pay, and Stripe issues the receipt.
Stripe handles your card details — we never see or store them. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it; if it keeps failing the subscription ends and the bot stops.
We may change prices. A change never affects a period you have already paid for: it applies from your next renewal, and we will tell you at least 30 days beforehand so you can cancel first.
Cancelling, and the 14-day withdrawal right
You can cancel at any time from the billing page. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the subscription runs to the end of the period you have paid for, and then the bot stops. We do not refund part-used months or unspent credits outside the withdrawal right below and the law.
If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK — that is, buying for yourself rather than for a business — you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a contract made online. Because Tentmate starts work as soon as you subscribe, by subscribing you ask us to begin immediately and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed. If you withdraw within 14 days while it is only partly performed, we refund what you paid less a proportionate amount for what was used. Write to [email protected] to withdraw.
Using it properly
Do not use Tentmate to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to do anything that breaches your own agreement with 37signals. Do not try to extract credentials or other customers' data from it, work around the limits on what it can reach, resell access to it, or use it to send unsolicited mail. Do not use it to generate material that impersonates a real person or that is designed to deceive.
We may suspend the service if it is being used this way, if payment fails, or if continuing would put other customers or the platforms we depend on at risk. Where we can, we will tell you first.
Your data
Exactly what the privacy notice says and nothing else. In short: what the bot reads in your Basecamp account stays yours, you are the controller of it, we process it to answer the request in front of us, and the notice names every third party involved in doing so.
If you cancel, you can ask us to delete what we hold. Some records — invoices, and the minimum needed for tax and accounting — we are required to keep for as long as the law says.
Things we depend on
Tentmate only works because Basecamp, the AI model providers and our hosting do. If one of them changes, restricts or withdraws what it offers, the service may change or stop with it. That is not within our control, and we may have to alter or discontinue features because of it. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will tell you and refund the unused part of any period you have paid for.
What belongs to whom
The Tentmate name, the mark, the software and the content of this site are ours. What you put into Basecamp, and what the bot produces for you there, is yours. You are welcome to quote or link to this site. Basecamp is a trademark of 37signals; Tentmate is an extension for Basecamp and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by 37signals.
No promises about availability
The service is provided as is. We do not promise a particular uptime, response time or answer quality, and we may change any part of it. We take reasonable care, but a bot that reads and writes in your account will sometimes be slow, silent or wrong.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost business, or loss or corruption of data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or — if you are a consumer — any of your statutory rights.
Changes to these terms
We may update them. For a change that materially affects you we will give at least 30 days' notice by email to the account owner, and you can cancel before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.
Governing law
The law of Spain and its courts. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protections you have where you live, or of the right to bring proceedings there.
